Microsoft on-demand movement too slow
There have been multiple press releases from Microsoft in recent weeks touting their ondemand releases. Today’s New York Times has a report about Microsoft’s plans to offer a web storage service that will enable users to upload and store up to 1000 documents. However, you can only edit those documents if you already own an offline version of Word or Excel. They are obviously taking such steps to ensure the survival of their Office cash cow.

SAP joins the On-demand movement
SAP, the world’s largest business software company has joined the on-demand software movement with the launch of Business ByDesign, a web-based, hosted suite of applications aimed towards mid-size companies that are between 100 and 500 employees. SAP has geared Business ByDemand towards growing companies that have not yet invested significantly on their IT needs. SAP estimates this market to be worth $15 billion globally.
